Fear
Fear Knot
Have you ever felt like Moses? Scared, uncertain, weak, lacking, and unworthy. He was a sinner who committed murder trying to stop the beating of a Hebrew by an Egyptian during their enslavement. When Pharaoh, the King of Egypt, found out he tried to kill Moses who fled to Midian. Despite Moses’ sin God still blessed him. Moses married Zipporah and had a son named Gershom. Despite Moses’s shortcomings God used him to bring the Israelites out of Egypt and set them free from their oppression. But Moses questioned God with, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt”? And of the Israelites “What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, ‘The Lord did not appear to you’?” Can you imagine an encounter with God at the burning bush directing you to bring his people out of Egypt and you questioning why you are the chosen one instead of immediately yielding to his voice and authority? First, to see the glory of God in a burning bush would scare me to death and cause me to question did I just have this encounter. Second, I certainly would question such a monumental task and whether I was capable of being a persuasive leader. Sometimes I wonder why God didn’t find someone else for my assignment. I am quiet. I am introvert. I don’t like conflict. I don’t like drama. I like to stay low key. Yet, God told me to share his word with the world and here I am writing a blog that alot of people could have access too. It is only by Gods spirit that I am led to do this. If you asked me if I had a website and wrote a blog I would be tempted to say I have a twin. But God has given me and each one of us our own portion of things to deal with in life. We each have an assignment he has called us to. God will give us strength and his grace is sufficient in all things. The challenge is a test to get us from sea level to dry land so we can move through life without drowning in fear. Every level is another devil but I believe God prepares for the next junction. Eventually the test may become a familiar one that you can calmly respond to having learned to be faithful and content in a new comfort zone. God told Moses in advance that his wonders against evil would result in the Israelites’ freedom. We saw that God’s faithful love endured in the end. God made a way out of no way and was there at Moses’ right hand and though he was shaken he stood his ground.
Today, many of us hear God’s voice but don’t follow his direction. We find an alternative route and reap the consequence of our own decisions due to our fear and uncertainty. I have run for a long time and each time God has sent a storm to remind me that he is in control and that he will be with me in the fear to get me back on track. Hallelujah!
